Submitting a claim

You can submit a claim to get paid back for an expense you paid for out of pocket. Any claims you submit will show as Processing until they’re completed—usually within two days of submission. 

 

File a claim

  1. From the Level App, go to Activity then select +
  2. Select Reimbursement if prompted
  3. Upload your itemized receipt, confirm the transaction details, and select a plan to cover the purchase
  4. Review for accuracy before submitting 

 

Itemized receipts for out-of-pocket expenses
If you pay out of pocket, make sure to keep an itemized receipt that includes:

  • Date of purchase
  • Your name
  • Merchant name
  • Item/service description
  • Amount paid

Note: We cannot accept handwritten cash receipts. Digital payment proofs (like Venmo, Zelle) with descriptions are accepted.

 

Payment methods

  • Bank transfer: Connect a bank account to get paid back in 3-5 business days. Claim reimbursements processed on the same day will appear as a single line item in your bank account. 
  • Check: If you don’t link a bank account, you’ll get a physical check in 7-10 business days.
  • Purchase offset: Outstanding payments for non-covered items may be deducted from approved reimbursement amounts.
  • International employees: Reimbursement will be made via payroll by your employer.

 

Claim timelines

  • Most plans require you to submit your claim for reimbursement within 30 days of purchase (up to 180 days for certain benefits). 
  • Claims are applied to the transaction period of the purchase date, not your current balance. This means the claim will deduct from the balance you had at the time of the transaction. 
    • For example, if you have a monthly fund without rollover and submit a claim for a purchase made in January while it is now February, the claim will be deducted from your January balance. 
    • Check your plan documents for more details. 

 

Prorated claims

For employers that have prorated claims enabled, you can submit for partial reimbursement if your claim amount exceeds your available plan year balance. As your balance refreshes, you’ll be reimbursed without submitting the claim again. 

 

Delayed payments
Please contact us if your payment is delayed more than 7 days for a bank transfer or 2 weeks for a physical check.

Buy Now Pay Later

Level now supports buy now, pay later (BNPL) purchases made through Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay. If you use your Level Card to pay using Affirm, Klarna, or Afterpay, or use a personal payment method and want to submit your receipt for reimbursement, upload a receipt to your Level App with the following information:

  • What you purchased
  • Merchant name (e.g. Amazon)
  • BNPL merchant name (e.g. Affirm)
  • Original installment date and payment history
  • Date when you used your Level Card or personal form of payment
  • The installment amount you paid
  • Total purchase amount
