Get reimbursed

If you don’t have a Level Card, or need to pay out of pocket for any reason, make sure to get an itemized receipt that includes the date of purchase, your name, the name of the merchant, a short description of the item or service, and how much you paid. You’ll need to submit this receipt in the Level App for reimbursement.

Level doesn’t accept handwritten receipts for cash payments. We do accept proof of digital payment through services like Venmo and Zelle. If you make an eligible purchase through a money transfer app, be sure to enter an explanation of what you paid for, and save a screenshot of your payment.

To get reimbursed from the Level mobile app, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Activity section.
  2. Select the + button. (If you’re enrolled in a plan that requires preauthorizations, select Reimbursement in the menu before continuing.)
  3. Follow the prompts to add a photo of your itemized receipt, then enter the date of your transaction, merchant name, and transaction amount.
  4. Select the benefit you’d like to use. You can choose between all benefits that were active with a remaining balance greater than zero at the time of the transaction. If your transaction can’t be covered by the benefit you selected, you’ll get a notification when your transaction is complete.
  5. Review the details before submitting to make sure it all looks right.
  6. Select Submit.

To get reimbursed from a web browser, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Activity section.
  2. Select + Reimbursement. (If you’re enrolled in a plan that requires preauthorizations, you’ll have to select + Actions first, then Reimbursement.)

Once Level processes your transaction, you’ll get paid back according to your plan’s coverage. You can add a bank account in the app to get paid back quickly, or Level can send you a check.

Can I submit for reimbursement if my benefit period has ended?

If your benefit period has ended, you can still submit your itemized receipt for reimbursement, as long as you submit within 30 days of the transaction. For some plans, like dental, vision, and Mental Health, you have 180 days to submit following the date of service. To review the submission period for your plan, check your benefit booklet in the app by visiting the Details section of that plan page.

If you submit your receipt for reimbursement after the benefit period has ended, the cost will be deducted from your available balance from the benefit period when the original transaction occurred.

International members

If you’re based outside of the United States and paid out of pocket for an eligible expense, submit your receipt through the Level App to get paid back. Make sure to add your receipt for reimbursement within 30 days of your transaction. Submit the original receipt, even if it’s not written in English. Your employer will reimburse you for the transaction.

What if I don’t want to link my bank account?

If you'd prefer not to link your bank account, you can get paid back or pay your balance by physical check.

Make the check payable to Level Benefits, Inc, and add the transaction ID to the memo line. To find the transaction ID, visit the Activity section and select the transaction. If your payment applies to more than one transaction, you can list multiple IDs, separated by a comma. (If there’s not enough space, send an in-app message to let us know you’re mailing a check, and to which transactions it applies.)

Mail the check to Level Benefits, Inc. at PO Box 1461, New York, NY 10013. Once we receive your check, we will update your transaction as paid, and you'll receive a confirmation email.
